Finding your unique angle

Give customers a clear reason to choose you over the alternatives.

Differentiation is the reason a customer picks you. It doesn't have to be revolutionary; it has to be clear and believable.

Common angles that work

  • Niche focus: "the bookkeeper for restaurants."
  • Speed or convenience: same-day, done-for-you, no app to learn.
  • Experience: better service, local presence, a personal touch.
  • Price model: flat fee, subscription, or pay-per-use where others don't offer it.
  • Expertise or trust: credentials, results, or a background others lack.

Write your positioning sentence

"For [customer] who [need], [business] is the [category] that [key benefit], unlike [alternative]."

Test it with real customers. If they can repeat it back in their own words, it's working.
